Protecting a DP is not the most intuitive of processes in ConfigMgr. Once you've created your DP in order to protect it you need to:

  1. Load the ConfigMgr Console.
  2. Navigate to  "System Center Configuration Manager | Site Database | Site Management | <site_code - description> | Site Settings | Site Systems | <server_containing_the_DP>. "
  3. Right-click "ConfigMgr site system" and from the context menu select "Properties" (you can also double-click the "ConfigMgr site system"), which will open the "ConfigMgr site system Properties" screen shown below.

  1. Click the "Enable this site system as a protected site system" checkbox which will then enable the "Select Boundaries..." button.
  2. Click the "Select Boundaries..." button which will display the "Boundaries" screen shown below.

  1. Click the yellow starburst button which will display the "New Boundaries" screen shown below that contains the list of available boundaries.

  1. Select the relevant boundary(s) and click the "OK" button.
NOTE: The "New Boundaries" screen only displays the list of boundaries configured for the Site the DP belongs to and that have not already been assigned to another Site System.
  2. Click the "OK" button twice.
