Using any Systems Management tool such as SMS
can potentially generate large amounts of network traffic, especially when
data needs to be passed across WAN connections. 'Out-of-the-box' the only
way to restrict SMS in it’s use of the network is to control what times it
can use the links and how much of these links it can use but that’s it. When
a link becomes congested it's difficult to identify exactly what traffic on
the link is SMS-related. Another problem arises when using SMS in secure
networks or when you need to send traffic between SMS Site when firewalls
are involved.
This is where SMSSocket Sender can help. This integrated product allows you
to configure which IP port SMS uses for all of it’s traffic. This helps you
identify all SMS-related traffic (as you know that only SMS-related traffic
is using the specified port), and also helps in secure network/ firewall
situations as you can allow a specific port through your firewall in order
to allow SMS to work. To find out more about the SMSSocket Sender goto:
