hello
I have a problem trying to download new updates for windows xp sp2. I got an error code 80246008. Then I checked my BITS and found out that I couldn't turn it on (error code 2147024894). Can anyone help me with this problem please?
Thank you |

I think 2147024894 means it can't find the file. Have you tried redownloading the update? _________________ Kind regards,

I've had this very same problem for weeks now and hate to think the amount of time I've spent trying to find a solution. there must be someone else who has over across this and subsequently solved it. PLEASE let us in on the secret. |

I know how you feel, this is one of the most frustrating problems, I've come across. If there were a way of uninstalling the BITS service (can only seem to do this if SP2 enhancements have been installed as an update BUT not on a new installation which incorporates the SP2 features as standard), then BITS could be reinstalled and would probably start working ok. The question is : IS there a method to uninstal the BITS service when it has been installed NOT using the SP2 update ? |

I was having this same problem as well. I found that if you uninstalled a Norton product without using the uninstall utility, it causes BITS to come up with this error. I found the solution at the bottom of this forum:

| Thanks for this desperateresearcher. I had the same problem and this solved it brilliantly! I have been searching round microsoft help files and the net for weeks with no solution, I was near to binning the puter. |
