hello

I have a problem trying to download new updates for windows xp sp2. I got an error code 80246008. Then I checked my BITS and found out that I couldn't turn it on (error code 2147024894). Can anyone help me with this problem please?

Thank you

I think 2147024894 means it can't find the file. Have you tried redownloading the update?

Crying or Very sad I've had this very same problem for weeks now and hate to think the amount of time I've spent trying to find a solution. there must be someone else who has over across this and subsequently solved it. PLEASE let us in on the secret.

Crying or Very sad I know how you feel, this is one of the most frustrating problems, I've come across. If there were a way of uninstalling the BITS service (can only seem to do this if SP2 enhancements have been installed as an update BUT not on a new installation which incorporates the SP2 features as standard), then BITS could be reinstalled and would probably start working ok. The question is : IS there a method to uninstal the BITS service when it has been installed NOT using the SP2 update ?

I was having this same problem as well. I found that if you uninstalled a Norton product without using the uninstall utility, it causes BITS to come up with this error. I found the solution at the bottom of this forum:
