We have a
mixed mode Windows 2000 domain with several Windows NT 4.0 BDCs. We rolled
out the MOM agents on the Windows 2000 DCs and added these DCs to the
Computer Group "Active
Directory Replication Latency Data Collection"
according to the instructions in the Microsoft Active Directory Management
Pack Guide (section "Specifying Domain Controllers for Data Collection").
After rolling out the MOM agents on the Windows NT 4.0 BDCs, should we add
these servers to this Computer Group "Active
Directory Replication Latency Data Collection"
as well?
From the microsoft.public.mom.managementpack.ad
newsgroup
No, for a couple of reasons:
- As the name suggests,
it's only for AD Replication and thus many of the scripts that run and
collect this info would not work on an NT4 server.
- Unless you have the XMP
from NetIQ, the only thing the MOM SP1 Agent can do on NT4 servers is
collect events. Thus again back to my previous statement that the scripts
that collect the AD Replication Latency would not work.
