I have
started having a few alerts generated via the rule "Active
Directory Last Bind - Critical Error".
I have disabled rules in the past for the Op Master bind alerts as this is a
known issue with MOM.
Is the same true for these AD last bind errors, or are these indicative of
an serious problem?
From the microsoft.public.mom
newsgroup
Actually and unfortunately these are normal. Some of the Microsoft PSS guys
have seen this problem themselves with these errors just showing up after a
while in their test environments, yet it seems there is no problem in the
Event Viewer for the servers. There is a bug on this that has been sent to
the MOM team which it is hoped will be corrected soon.
There are 10 additional performance processing rules for Active Directory
availability related to replication latency, global catalog search time and
AD lost objects. Microsoft have seen no issues with disabling these and it
seems this is what they recommend until the updated Active Management Pack
Rules are available that have been updated for Windows 2003 which seem to
have fixed the majority of bugs.
