Is there an
easy way to get MOM to stop monitoring a server without either uninstalling
the Agent from the aforementioned server or by stopping the Onepoint service
on the server.
If I stopped the service, would the service then send all Events in the
Event log once it was restarted? The reason I’m asking is because we having
problems with our Biztalk server. Every morning a few hundred jobs are
processed by it. It’s been having some issues lately and because of the
number of jobs being processed (and all of the subsequent retries) we are
receiving about 4,000 alerts in MOM. I’d like to temporarily get MOM to
ignore this server without having to uninstall the Agent. Any ideas?

Stopping the Onepoint service will simply queue up Alerts which will flow
when the agent restarts. However, by clearing the event logs you can get
around this. You would then get one message indicating the event logs
wrapped and events were lost.
There are a couple of ways to proceed.
- Find the rule(s) that are flooding you
and disable them
- Exclude the server from the MOM group
that is used to distribute those rules. If you remove the machine from all
rule groups the agent will automatically be removed within a couple of
days
- Stop the service and restart it after
you clear the logs
- Ignore the alerts from the one machine
- Hit shift delete and delete them a page
at a time
