When trying
to view the web reports, IE tries to install something from office XP and I
get this:
"Error
1706 setup cannot find the required file"
Then another message box
appears:
"Your
security settings prohibit running Activex controls on this page"
I have placed the XP CD in
the CD tray (which was the original installation point) and set all my
security settings to low without any success.

The reporting components need to install the Access Runtime. In the RTM
version of MOM it is probably looking for a specific version number (from
Office 2000) and the problem might be that the XP version is too high. Try
installing Access on the client machine and the try running the report.
This is taken from the MOM Operations Guide, chapter 5, page 12:
"MOM requires the Snapview.ocx Microsoft
ActiveX control on the client browser to view Web reports. The Web console
will not retain all of its functionality if any of the following conditions
exist:
o The browser is incapable of using ActiveX Controls
o The browser security settings do not allow ActiveX Controls to be
downloaded and used
o The Snapview.ocx control is not on the client computer
o The user who is logged on also needs to have sufficient access privileges
to download and run the ActiveX Controls in the
%WINDOWS%\Downloaded Program Files directory.
If the client computer has Microsoft Access installed, it has the control
available. The control is installed on the server in the %Program
Files%\Microsoft Operations Manager 2000\Event\Reports directory."
