| I searched
MOM rules for Exchange 2000 and wasn't able to find an event processing rule
for this error:
Event ID: 1101
Event Type: Error
Source: MSExchangeIS Mailbox
Cat: Background Cleanup
Description: Error 0x8004010f occurred on message .... during a background
cleanup on database ...
KB: 271984
I looked through all other
events, all Windows NT events, and didn't find the error listed at all,
which clearly shows up on the machines event log. Could this be due to
the fact that exchange clusters and MOM really just don't get along, even
after SP1?
The article that addresses this error says it can safely be ignored, however
I'm wondering why this event isn't even captured by MOM at all.
Any clue as to why this event isn't being captured at all?
I have both nodes listed as managed computers, as well as the virtual
exchange name (virtual name is what clients need in order to connect to
Exchange on a cluster). The reason I need the virtual machines listed as
managed computers is so that I can run reports on my clusters. However, I am
starting to think this might cause events to get skipped. Because sometimes
an error or a warning will show up on the virtual machine, and not the node,
or vice versa.

If the Exchange product group has determined that the error can "safely be
ignored" then the team that developed the MP for Exchange would not have
included a rule to look for that event. No sense spamming those that are
managing the MOM console.
