We have a SMS 2.0 server running on Windows
2000 on a NT4.0 Domain also a separate Windows 2000 server (DHCP RIS) running on
an Active Directory domain. The RIS works fine and we have very little
problems with SMS except running clients on the AD from the NT 4.0 Domain (not
really bothered only 3 of our departmental computers run on AD of the 443).
The gotcha is that the SMS client if left on when creating a RIS image fails to
work when the image is used. After the SMS client is uninstalled all is fine. Or
if the client is uninstalled before creating the RIS image the new image is OK.
I realise this is because the identity of the client will be duplicated with a
RIS install. This note is just to let others know of the problem.
Uninstall SMS from clients before creating a RIS image!!!!
