It seems that my clients do not have permission to download the patches from my SUS server. My server is running Windows 2000 SP3 with SUS SP1. Policies are set correctly, and my clients are contacting the SUS server.

From what I can tell from the IIS logs I'm getting a permission denied message on downloading the packages. The (http://www.pdxconsulting.com/sus) tool gives me a "
Download Failed 80190194 ctx=5" message.

I have not done anything with the file rights on the SUS server at all.

I learned a lesson recently about this '
CTX=5' problem which will help you.

It was related to a change I made in DNS which pointed my AU clients to a different web server name, but I forgot to change the setting in the '
Set Options' section of SUSADMIN and the 'Specify the name your clients use to locate this update server' field. That field needs to match EXACTLY the location where the clients are going to download their updates.

When I changed this field to match, all my clients were then downloading correctly.
