Software Update Services (or 'SUS' for short), is designed to allow companies to keep their Windows 2000, 2003 and Windows XP machines up-to-date. A company can configure one or more of their servers to connect to the Microsoft Update site from which Critical Updates, Security Updates, Security Roll-ups and Service Packs can be download.

Once downloaded, these updates can be tested if required before being deployed to other machines in a company's network without those machines requiring access to the Internet/ Microsoft Update site themselves.

There are two components to SUS:

  • A server component known as 'SUS' which is available in English or Japanese

  • A client component known as the 'Automatic Update' component which is available in Arabic, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish
