Can I Create Multiple Web Sites on the same SUS Server?

I’m trying to create multiple SUS web sites on the same SUS server. I've come pretty close but the approve/disapprove page still appears to be shared. Has anybody done this successfully?

I need to be able to apply patches at different times for different uses based on different GPOs. While setting up different servers would be the obvious way to do this, turf battles are keeping me from getting another box. So I made multiple "susroot" folders with xcopy and have been manually trying to configure things without breaking the original load. The DNS guys have set up aliases for the new sites and that part appears to work fine.

Any ideas/articles web sites to check?

Having multiple SUS servers on one machine isn't currently supported and will be available in future versions. The problem with your approach is that even if you create multiple "susroot" folders, you still have only one SUS server. That is because SUS is actually running as a Windows service, not just a website.

The service itself can't be cloned and it can't have more than one set of dictionary objects in memory that define what updates are available, and which of those available updates are approved. Even if you clone the website, the service is still only aware of the original website, and not the clone. Hope that helps clarify the hurdles to using multiple SUS servers on one machine.
