"The wuau.adm file should be installed on a computer that is being used to administer your domain-based group policies. Follow these steps:

  1. Copy wuau.adm to %windir%\inf. (Replace the existing wuau.adm file.)

  2. In the Group Policy tree, right-click Administrative Templates under the Computer Configuration tree.

  3. Select Add/Remove Templates.

  4. If "wuau" is listed in the Current Policy Templates, click Remove. If it is not listed, go to the next step.

  5. Click Add and select wuau.adm. Then click Open.

  6. Verify that "wuau" is now listed in the Current Policy Templates, then click Close.

  7. The policies to configure the Automatic Updates component on client computers can now be found in Computer Configuration>Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Windows Update."
