Oli Restorick I've been experimenting with SUS, but until that feature is added, I won't be deploying it. Machines aren't left on routinely during the night. I don't want users involved in the update at all. It should just install itself and wait for the user to reboot. "I'll forward to the design teams for consideration in the next version. You can set scheduled installs to occur during times when users wouldn't see anything happening (like at night) but it's still not likely to be completely transparent to users." |

Aladdin Don, not all companies can leave computers turned on during the night:( So installations of updated without a reboot is a must feature amongst many of others. Rob McShinsky This is true unless you have a 24 hour operation like a hospital. On top of having the ability to not reboot the system and silently install, there needs to be some logic that will not push subsequent patches or re-push the same patches if they have been already installed, but not active because the system has not been rebooted. We are in a strict environment with lots of doctor's and reboots of systems during off hours are not possible on a frequent basis due to the fact that there may be documents or applications open that we can not step on. Maybe the ability to automate the installs the last day of the month or some other day. More like Outlooks style scheduling! "I'll forward to the design teams for consideration in the next version. "SUS needs the ability to silently download and install automatically but not reboot. As an administrator, I would like to hide that fact that updates are being applied so that users are not involved in any way." |

Terry You can also go here and send a comment to the developers: http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp I agree. This is the one area that is preventing our
company from using SUS. Due to our business model, we cannot have mandatory
reboot chaos and there is no way we would ever put our users in the
Administrator group! |

Jason L. Triple hear. This product isn't doing what it should. They should talk to NAV Corp. developers (7.6, not version 8!!!) , and get tips on pushing software, silently, and with minimal user interaction. "We wish that we can choose if we reboot after install hotfixes. Since Windows 2000 MS said we need less reboots." |

Pete Lindsay Here, here. "Since Windows 2000 MS said we need less reboots." |
