Contributed By: Mirko Huth
I found a great VB Script to auto approve new SUS updates. Depending on the available bandwidth just start this script after SUS the synchronisation as a scheduled Task:

Our good friend Rod Trent gave me a tip-off about this script that monitors the activity between your SUS clients and the SUS server.

SUS Server Update Notification Script

Contributed By: Mirko Huth [MVP SMS]
Here is a script from Glen Sullivan. When SUS has downloaded new updates the SUS Admin gets notified by mail.

http://www.freelists.org/archives/windows2000/01-2003/msg00373.html

This script is good for SUS Admins who don’t like the Auto Approve New Updates on a Schedule for SUS Script because they want to keep control of which updates are installed on the clients.

Using SUS with Wake-On-LAN

Contributed By: Cliff Hobbs [MVP SMS]
If you've got users that don't want rescheduled installations occurring a few minutes after their machines have booted up then using Wake-ON-LAN to distribute the updates out-of-hours seems a great solution.  If want to know how to use SUS with Wake-On-LAN then Ed van Balen shows you how to here:

[updated 10/9/03]
Ed has now updated the page to include details on how to power off your machines after you've woken them up and deployed the updates to them.
