Question:

I’m using the “Documentation Library for System Center 2007 Configuration Manager” but finding it a pain that every time I use the search function it returns results from other sources such as the forums. Is there anyway I can search JUST the ConfigMgr 2007 Documentation Library?

Answer:

Yes you can by using the following URL:

http://www.bing.com/search?q=%22search_criteria%22+site%3Atechnet.microsoft.com%2Fen-us%2Flibrary+meta%3Asearch.MSCategory%28hh528538%29&go=&qs=n&form=QBLH&filt=all&pq=%22search_criteria%22+site%3Atechnet.microsoft.com%2Fen-us%2Flibrary+meta%3Asearch.mscategory%28hh528538%29&sc=3-91&sp=-1&sk=

which looks like this:

ConfigMgr 2007 Scoped Search

Then in the search box you just type what you’re looking for between the quotes (“”). For example if I was looking for Task Sequence I would enter:

“Task Sequence” site:technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library meta:search.MSCategory(hh528538)

which would return me the following:

ConfigMgr 2007 Scoped Search with TS results

You can also do this for ConfigMgr 2012 using a different URL as detailed here.
