Problem:

I’ve just installed a new Secondary Site and configured the site as a Distribution Point. However, when I look on the drive I’ve configured as the distribution point I don’t see the “SMSPKG” directory?

Resolution:

The “SMSPKG” directory does not get created until you distribute the first Package to the DP. Simply add the DP for the new Site Server to a small Package (such as WinZip, 7Zip, Acrobat Reader, etc.) and then monitor the drive on the Secondary Site.

The “SMSPKG” directory will be created and contain the PCK file for the Package that you’ve just distributed. This in turn will get decompressed to the “SMSPKG<drive>$” directory (which maybe a different drive to that containing the “SMSPKG” directory depending on how you’ve configured your DP.
