Question:

I’m using the “Documentation Library for System Center 2012 Configuration Manager” but finding it a pain that every time I use the search function it returns results from other sources such as the forums. Is there anyway I can search JUST the ConfigMgr 2012 Documentation Library?

Answer:

Yes you can by using the following URL:

http://www.bing.com/search?q=%28%22%22%29+site%3Atechnet.microsoft.com%2Fen-us%2Flibrary+meta%3Asearch.MSCategory%28gg682056%29&go=&qs=n&form=QBRE&pq=%28%22%22%29+site%3Atechnet.microsoft.com%2Fen-us%2Flibrary+meta%3Asearch.mscategory%28gg682056%29&sc=0-79&sp=-1&sk=

which looks like this:

ConfigMgr 2012 Scoped Search

Then in the search box you just type what you’re looking for between the quotes (“”). For example if I was looking for Management Point I would enter:

(“Management Point”) site:technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library meta:search.MSCategory(gg682056)

which would return me the following:

ConfigMgr 2012 Scoped Search with MP results

You can also do this for ConfigMgr 2007 using a different URL as detailed here.
